How do I get out of the grey on Gizmodo? Can anyone here help? (I replied to a comment in the current autonomous car article)

are you just unapproved, or are you actually “dismissed?” if the former then your comments should show when “show pending” is selected. if you’re dismissed (banned) nobody but you will ever see your comments.

Getting banned from Gizmodo is kind of an Oppo badge of honor. I got mine during the great Univision Article-Deleting Union dispute.

I dunno how exactly to trigger a blog-follow. It seems to happen kind of randomly because authors have to do it manually, thanks to Kinja. Most authors only seem to watch the first few minutes of their comment sections (but there are exceptions to this), so you have to be fast. From what I understand, it’s considered poor taste to e-mail an author for ungreying.

But in the short-term, the best way to get a single comment un-greyed is to make it a reply to another (non-pending) comment, which it sounds like you’ve already done. Commenters are more likely to respond to you than authors. And if anyone who is “approved” gives you a star or reply, that single comment will be ungreyed.

I’ve yet to be ungrayed on any of the other blogs. The only reason I got ungrayed on Jalopnik was because I emailed Patrick George and asked him to. lol

I actually got booted from Jalopnik, and when Univision went through and “aligned” everyone’s accounts, I got nuked from all Jalopnik sub-blogs too. Worse, any comment I’ve ever left over there is gone, along with the comments I was replying to. There were several long-ish back and forth convos I had with Sean MacDonald that are nowhere to be found.

Some of us were grey, then we weren’t, then we said the wrong thing to the wrong “editor” and we were grey again....
